Crackpot theories? None of you have backed up your claim that poverty has the same results across races as concerns crime. Or gang rape. Or gang affiliation. Etc. s And I gather neither of you have taken a look, or would take a look, at the FBI Uniform Crime reports and the Justice Dept stats. I agree you have taken the safe thinking on race. As for chubby guys comments, do you buy in to the claim that the jews are at fault for 9/11? That they somehow knew ahead of time. Cindy Sheehan is stained with her comments on Israel. So much of the sophisticated get-Cheney crowd follow her “cause” but do you follow her comments. This 9/11 crap is much like the JFK industry. Id say its hard for any of it to stand after Vincent Bugliosis tome, Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Dont waste your time on the insanity of why every bird was where it was in the sky on 9/11, read this book. If you believed in a conspiracy you will feel ashamed of yourself, if you didnt, go stand in a corner.

Haha. Oh don’t blame the libertarians! I have met Noami Klein twice, shes a great orator and rather intelligent.

And your right that her logic sometimes suffers from this myopic rabbit hole of mistrust. It’s an odd topic where you can loose objectivity quickly. History provides so many shocking examples of individuals who have manipulated the public. Alternate history is really fascinating. While I personally reject most theories, the burden is on the conspiracy advocate to prove; not merely find the lack of evidence.

In general though, I think its good policy for a government to be as absolutely transparent as possible because of this risk of manipulation.

I suppose you are next going to blame the jews. How many of these crackpot theories are you going to tease people into reading. They drag some retired military engineer into the McVeigh incident, who swore up and down the supports at the Murrow Building could not have been blown down as they were thought to have. Someone forked over the money to recreate and guess what, they were able to recreate McVeighs plans. Now you have amateur engineers (Rosie O’Donnell as their voice) telling everyone that steel cant be melted (affected) by fire. Much like that degenerate Cindy Sheehan , everyone was intrigued and still are, then you find out shes an anti-semite. One James D. Watson comes to mind. Is this just the risk of listening to someone who questions? What about those who guided you to them?

Conspiracy theories do indeed excite the mind about the nefarious possibilities of the government. The notion that the U.S. government orchestrated the 9/11 attacks is definitely one of them. I had a couple of libertarian friends who’d always through these conspiracy videos at me to watch. A few of them were about 9/11. I watched a couple of them before I realized what has been said time and again: the government can keep no secrets… especially big ones.

Fun to entertain, but sort of gives you the Alice down the rabbit hole feeling.

Michael, are you a fan of Noami Klein? Her Shock Doctrine theory is, in part, about “false flags.” She’s fun to read, but faces the same problem that all mono-casual theorist do when they force everything into a neat little formula – things aren’t that simple.
