Horton for City Council?

June 22, 2009

HortonI can’t believe I am just finding out about this.  Nick Horton is running for City Council in Searcy.  This Facebook page seems to be his headquarters for the campaign and I don’t think the campaign is (meant to be) a joke.  I’m not sure what to say right now except one observation, one question, and another observation.

Horton’s public politician Facebook page means that he can’t un-friend and block me anymore.

Does Horton’s attempted entry into public life mean that it is fair game to discuss him now?

Horton’s pictures all remind me of American History X, which is a fantastic and powerful movie.  Horton has some movies as well, including this one where he tells ghost stories about “oppressive and seeping socialism” with, I am pretty sure, a flashlight under his chin.

Tongue-in-cheek kidding aside, I am actually kind of jealous of Nick running for office. It is something I used to dream about.

The A&P tax and other local issues in Searcy seem interesting, but the silly Daily Citizen is mostly subscriber-only.

    He blocked me as well.

I don’t really understand how anybody can pose in front of a flag like that unironically.

Chris it makes sense in your case, with all of your radical librul propaganda.

by “i believe in securing the border,” is he saying he wants to build a fence between searcy and kensett?

maybe he should concentrate more on real local issues rather than idiotic glenn beck rhetoric

am i the only one who hopelessly still checks LE everyday?

LE is still on my Reader, but I haven’t actually been to the site in ages.

I love the Glenn Beck rhetoric. It’s hilarious.

I frequent LE, too. I even commented on the last post, but that wasn’t allowed. I guess even the mildest of questioning is against their new policy.

If I recall from my Boy Scout days, that flag is not displayed properly.

Seems to me that if you’re going to use a patriotic symbol as a prop, you should at least do it correctly.

Nick has been fair game for a long time.

Unfortunately, I have the feeling that he is going to make it in politics. He is a perfect manifestation of the Republican Party right now. That is, the complete inability to make distinctions, worship of founders, dualistic view of the world, self-righteous moral crusading, Christian smugness, xenophobia, etc etc.

Nick Horton wrote one of the most spineless letters to the administration at Harding that I have ever read. It was a sorry letter about Dr. Elrod. That was my first exposure to him.

I have never been more frustrated by anyone than Nick Horton. Ever. For those who have never met him, really just think Sarah Palin. I have absolutely no respect for him. He will be a destructive force in politics for years, whether he is successful or not. People like just make everyone else dumber.

No seriously, Chris. How do you really feel about that guy?

I honestly thought that FB page was some sort of hoax…??

Gino! It’s been ages. How have you been?

Perhaps my cache of screen grabs of potentially offensive comments and posts from Libertas Exemplar will come in handy some day after all.

Doing well, David. Looking for a gig since I have no contract for the next school year….uggghhh! Maybe Horton will hire me to run his campaign? I would need to tweak a few things, though…

Isn’t this the guy who declared the election “over!!” (in favor of the GOP) when McCain picked Palin as his running mate? yeah, good call, dude.
