This sounds like an Onion headline, but isn’t.
CNN: Group says Bristol Palin to promote teen pregnancy prevention
I wonder if she will commit the ultimate act of irony and only discuss abstinence. In all seriousness, what can she say? She is a laughably innappropriate spokesperson for abstinence only, and has become an icon of the program’s failed ideology. But her mother still has political aspirations in the Republican Party as the values candidate. Talking about safe sex, for some reason, seems to undermine the values of red state America.

I seriously doubt she’ll promote AO sex ed. She did an interview a while back basically saying it was bullcrap and her mother is insane. I actually quite like her now.
Who better to promote teen pregnancy prevention/abstinence than someone who has made the mistake and learned from it? Maybe I’m just blind…but, then again, I am a Republican.
@Becca, yeah that was interesting when she did that. Not exactly earth-shattering news, but it was pretty shattering to hear it come from Sarah Palin’s daughter.
The Candies Foundation, which invited Bristol to be their ambassador, doesn’t seem to talk much about safe sex. I just skimmed their entire website, and didn’t find anything about condoms or the pill or anything else. They are all about scare tactics and abstinence, it seems.

@LS, there are just too many jokes here. Who better than Michael Jackson to speak at a child abuse seminar? Who better than Dennis Rodman to speak at an anger management clinic? Who better than Bill Clinton to speak at a Promise Keepers rally?
I don’t know. I didn’t say she wouldn’t have a valid and interesting perspective. I just find the humor and irony in the situation impossible to pass up.
While we’re making jokes about it, let’s throw this one in there, too. Who better to speak at a Christian gathering than Saul/Paul? My point is this: people can change and, with that change, they help others keep from making the same mistake they made. It does happen, and it’s nothing to joke about. I wonder if Sarah Palin were a Democrat if you’d even bring this up. And saying Bristol would be a “laughably inappropriate spokesperson” tells me you don’t think she has a valid perspective. Otherwise, seems to me she would be a great spokesperson if she has truly learned from her mistake.
My girlfriend told me that Bristol Palin is comeing to Harding this fall to speak. Is that true?

I hear what you’re saying and I don’t disagree. Converts do make the best preachers. They may have a lot of validity to what they are saying. I am just saying that the superficial appearance is quite funny.

I disagree entirely. Converts make the most obnoxious preachers/evangelists. That guy that wrote The Case for Christ is the worst of all.
I meant it in a broader sense than just religious proselytizing. Converts who can sympathize with a hostile audience gain more credibility and are more able to cause attitudinal shifts with their message.
I don’t know that Bristol Palin would be a good spokesperson… even though she is a teenage mother. She has many privileges at her hands that typical teenage mothers don’t.

She should have alot of babies she can’t afford. Then she can become a slave welfare mother and be totally dependent on the democrats for everything she and her babies have. Thus ensuring she will always vote for the democrats because they are her benefactors. She will be a slave owned by her democratic slave masters. This way the democrats will never, ever be voted out of office. Great democratic strategy!!
