What’s the Ruckus?

Although not all of our readers are college students, it occurs to me that many of you probably are. If you are, then this applies to you, and if you aren’t, then you can wish it did.
Ruckus is a legal music downloading service available to college students (anyone with a .edu email address). It has almost as many songs available as iTunes, but with a much better price. The catch, of course, is that the songs you download from Ruckus come with DRM protection that prevents you from burning them onto a CD or copying them to an mp3 player. You must also renew the licence on each song every 30 days (but that is very easy).
To get Ruckus, you must first download the Ruckus player. Then, go to the website and search for whatever song or album you want to download. Then you download a small file from the website that tells the Ruckus player what songs to download.
The songs you download from Ruckus can live on your computer and you can jam out in your room or wherever you take your laptop. Eventually, the theory goes, you may take the next step and buy the music. Until then, enjoy all the free music you want on your computer! You’re welcome.
(Note: the website can be a little slow and it might take a couple tries to get it loaded, but it’s worth it)
