Chris McNeal and Primaries
August 3, 2007
It just occured to me that I can’t vote in the primary. I’m an independent. Odds are I’m going to be forced to choose between two candidates that I don’t like.
I’ll notch that up as another reason why I hate political parties.

I ran into that experience my first time voting in a primary here in St. Charles. I ended up choosing Republican due to the immense pressure my Father was putting on me. Keep in perspective that I was young and easily persuaded.
I have thought about registering as a democrat so that I can vote for Obama over Clinton.
If you are really an independant, then I wouldn’t think that you would choose between either of the two main party candidates. You would vote for an independant candidate.
However, if you are really a pragmatic soul, and will probably choose one of the two main candidates, then why don’t you just be pragmatic and pick a party to belong to?
My primary experience is going to be a little dissapointing also. I will be 1,000 miles away and by the time PA has its primary, the decision will be completely made.
Being independent doesn’t mean I vote for a third party. It just means I dont vote for the same party every time.
Join a party? Yeah right.
lol, burn Chris, burn.
Does California have a closed primary? If not you can still vote in the primary.
California has a closed primary.
Shouldn’t primaries be closed? After all, it does seem like more of a party event than anything else. I kind of think that the parties should only let their people make the decision for which candidate is best to represent their party.
